The Burger Joint was born in Bristol in 2009, when founding owner Dan Bekhradnia took his concept of a radically different burger restaurant Bristol and made it a reality. He wanted to create a restaurant focused exclusively on burgers – but letting customers ‘build’ their own burger from a list of ingredients. Setting up initially in Cotham Hill with Dan working hard in the kitchen, they often had queues outside the door. When the opportunity came in 2012 to move to a larger premises in Whiteladies Road, it was too good to miss.
Dan was already a fan of a seriously good burger. After completing his degree at the University of Bristol, Dan worked at Joe’s Bar & Grill in Oxford and noticed that the luxury burger was easily the most popular item on the menu. At that time, a small number of specialist burger restaurants were starting to pop up – but none offering real choice about combinations. Drawn back to Bristol, Dan took that simple idea and turned it into the winning ‘build a burger’ menu that has proved so popular. Probably the first specialist burger restaurant in Bristol, The Burger Joint has grown to two restaurants within Bristol, both offering the same menu and with the same ethos, putting excellence, value, choice and provenance at the heart of everything we do.
Small, independent and fiercely passionate about burgers, The Burger Joint welcomes you to try our menu and let us know what you think.
The Burger Joint is an independent Bristol business with two restaurants, each equally serious about burgers and committed to giving our customers the best dining experience that we can. We offer the same menu and the same standards of service and quality in both our restaurants although each location has its own unique personality and atmosphere.
The layouts are simple, using natural woods and stone depending on the features of each location. Interesting artwork is on the walls, hitting that slightly retro American diner vibe. Whether you choose Whiteladies Road or North Street, the welcome will be warm!
Devoted to providing meals of the highest possible quality for the lowest price, we are independent – not a national chain – and so everything we do is locally focused and produced.
Serious about burgers – and serious about choice!
Not just one burger, but 12 different burgers, all carefully chosen for their taste and textures. Our local butchers, Ruby & White, source and provide us with the best meat in Bristol. Although our meat burgers, including prime beef, venison, chicken as well as more unusual meat like ostrich, kangaroo and wild boar, are shamelessly centre stage of our menu, we have invested a lot of time experimenting and testing our vegan and vegetarian burgers too. New for 2017 was our Beetroot and Feta Burger which has gome down a storm. It took 50 recipes before we chose our Veggie Joint recipe so we take our burgers very seriously indeed. New for 2018 is our Vegan menu featuring a spicy sweet potato, quinoa and bean burger with some amazing vegan sauces and toppings.
When you order a burger, you can do so in the knowledge that it was made in our kitchens, to our recipe, by our chefs, cooked to order and served with home made sauces. Our chips are hand cut in our kitchens from specially selected potatoes or sweet potatoes – they go so well with our burgers and home made coleslaw!
The bread bap you eat with your burger makes a big difference. We’ll serve you a great burger in the perfect fresh artisan bread bap. It matters, believe us. That’s why our fresh bread comes from Hobbs House in Bristol while our gluten-free baps come all the way from Edinburgh because we just couldn’t find one we liked locally.
