About the burger joint

the burger joint is a small and beautifully refurbished licensed restaurant specialising in home-made luxury burgers. We provide an outstanding dining experience for an outstanding price and, in so doing, prove that burgers don’t have to be the cheap and nasty product that they’ve become in the hands of some of the big chains.

Dan Bekhradnia, the proprietor, is a Bristol graduate and former head chef of the Blue Monkey in Bristol and the Jericho Café in Oxford, and developed the burger joint concept while training at Joe’s Restaurant – one of Oxford’s most popular Bistro restaurants. There he observed that their luxury prime beef burger was the single most popular item on the menu. Clearly there is a demand for high quality burgers made with high quality ingredients.

Burgers don’t have to be fast food. In fact, the way we prepare them they are anything but fast. A burger made from top-quality products, and then prepared and cooked with care can be a top-class eating experience. That’s what you’ll get at the burger joint . Whether you dine in our licensed restaurant, or take your food away. We care about quality food.

Virtually everything is home-made on our premises. Every day. Burgers, toppings, sauces, chips and salads. Even the burger buns, which are bought in, are specially made Ciabatta buns of the highest quality, bought from a specialist artisan baker. Our carefully selected menu focuses on - but is not limited to - burgers: prime beef burgers, Welsh lamb burgers, chicken burgers and two types of vegetarian burger (developed after trials of 50 different recipes), all made with locally sourced ingredients and to our own recipes, accompanied by home-made sauces and chargrilled to order - as well as a selection of homemade speciality salads. Even the chips are hand cut on the premises from specially selected potatoes.

And in keeping with this burger joint philosophy, wines and beers are specially selected to offer a similar combination of quality and value, with the emphasis always on quality. Offering both a licensed restaurant and a takeaway service, and with its laid-back decor and modern furnishing, we are confident that the burger joint will quickly establish itself as one of Bristol’s favourites for those with good taste and a limited budget.
